Our story so far…
How it started…
Hilary and Mat met on Hinge and went on their first date on 24 August, 2021 at King Street Brew House.
Brownie Points
Hilary asked for a shandy, and though Mat didn’t know what it was, he taught the bartenter how to make one and scored major brownie points in the process. The first date extended from just drinks to dinner at Suyuan on Queen’s square, and ended with Hilary demonstrating her inability to navigate Bristol by car (she gave the wrong directions to her flat).
A love of adventure and deep conversation
The relationship quickly progressed to Hilary meeting Mat’s sister Mel within 2 months, and Mat meeting Hilary’s family for Thanksgiving at around 3 months, and then they moved in together in May the year after!
Mat got Hilary into kite surfing and Hilary got Mat into triathlons. Both share a love of adventures, good coffee, bike rides, board games, and deep meaningful conversations.
The proposal
Mat proposed to Hilary on 25 May, 2024 on a kite surfing trip in Dahkla, Morocco!
